Barrel ageing in Breww can be handled by creating 'Barrel' vessels in the Production section. This setup gives you full flexibility to manage, transfer, blend, and package barrel-aged beer.
Create your barrel store
To organise your barrels, we recommend setting up a dedicated **vessel group **(e.g. "Barrel Store"). This is covered in more detail in our [Vessel groups](/docs/vessel-groups/ guide.
Create a 'barrel' vessel
Once your vessel group is set up, you can create individual barrels as vessels:
- Follow our vessel creation guide here.
- Set the Vessel type to Barrel.
- Assign the vessel to your "Barrel Store" group.
- Tick Show on production dashboard if you'd like these barrels visible in your main production view.
Transfers, blends & packaging
With your barrels set up, you can:
-
Transfer beer into barrels for ageing.
-
Transfer between barrels or vessels as needed.
-
Blend multiple batches in a barrel.
-
Use the Derived in vessel feature if the final aged product is a new beer (e.g. a blend or barrel-aged variant). This allows you to convert the contents of a vessel into a new derived in vessel beer which can then be packaged and sold.
You can learn more about the derived in vessel process in our Alias, derived & guest beers guide.
