Cookie policy
This policy explains how Breww Ltd uses cookies and similar technologies on our website at https://breww.com, the Breww web app, and the trade stores we host for breweries. It forms part of our privacy policy.
What are cookies and similar technologies?
A cookie is a small piece of data that a website stores on your device when you visit. It lets the site recognise your browser when you return, and remember things such as whether you are logged in.
Websites can also store data in your browser's local storage, which works in a similar way, or read characteristics of your browser and device to recognise it. This policy covers all of these.
How we use them
Essential
These are needed for our website and services to work, and cannot be switched off. They:
- keep you logged in to your account, for up to six weeks;
- protect forms against cross-site request forgery;
- remember your language and display preferences; and
- remember that you have seen our cookie notice, for a year.
Fraud prevention
When you sign up for a Breww account or a trade store account, we read characteristics of your browser and device to create a browser fingerprint. We use this only to detect automated and fraudulent sign-ups, as described in section 8 of our privacy policy. It is used only for fraud prevention, never for analytics or advertising.
Analytics
In the Breww web app and on trade stores, we use PostHog, hosted in the EU, to understand how our services are used so we can improve them. PostHog stores an identifier in a cookie and in your browser's local storage. It may record how you move through pages (session replay); when it does, the text on the page and everything you type are hidden, so the recording shows the page's layout but not its content. In the Breww web app, a cookie also counts how many pages you load each day, so we can record how much each account uses the app. We do not use analytics on our marketing website.
Advertising
We do not use advertising or targeting cookies, and we do not track you across other websites.
Third-party services
Some pages use services from other companies, which may set their own cookies under their own policies:
- Payment pages: when you pay, you are taken to a page hosted by Stripe or Airwallex, which sets its own cookies to process the payment securely and prevent fraud.
- Address lookup: address forms on trade stores use Google Maps to suggest addresses as you type.
How to control cookies
You can set your browser to refuse cookies, or to warn you when a website tries to set one. Most browsers accept cookies by default, and you can change this in their settings. If you use more than one device, you will need to change the settings on each one.
Blocking essential cookies will stop parts of our services working, such as logging in. Blocking other cookies has little or no effect on how our services work for you.
If you have any questions about how we use cookies, email us at hello@breww.com.
