Your production day

Your production day is the page your team works from: one day, one person's production tasks, grouped by batch. It is built to be used on a phone or tablet in the brewery as much as at a desk.

Open it from Tasks -> Production tasks, or from View -> Production tasks on the Production dashboard. You need the General production permission.

A production day showing a batch card with its brew sheet tasks

Choosing what to show

The header shows whose work you are looking at and which day:

  • Use the arrows either side of the date to step back or forward a day, or click the date to pick one. Today's date is marked Today.
  • If you can see more than one person's work, choose whose day to show. Brewery admins can see anyone's day, and everyone else can see the days of colleagues who have shared their tasks with them.
  • If you have more than one site, choose a site, or All sites. Breww remembers your choice.

Two buttons change what is included. Both are saved to your own account:

  • Also show unassigned work adds the day's tasks that nobody has been given yet. This is how a small team can use production tasks without ever assigning anything. It starts switched on for people with the Assign production tasks permission and off for everyone else. Click Hide unassigned work to go back to your own work.
  • Also show closed work brings back tasks that were closed, so you can reopen one. Click Hide closed work to hide them again.

How the day is laid out

  • Do these first - any task a manager has marked urgent comes first, with a star. The same task still appears in its own batch's card below.
  • A card for each batch - named with the batch, its drink and the drink's colour, with how many of its tasks are done. The buttons in the card's header take you straight to the batch's brew sheet, transfers, packaging or readings, and to the batch itself. On a phone, they are gathered under Go to.
  • Equipment - cleaning and maintenance, sign-offs, and general tasks linked to a piece of equipment.
  • Tasks - general tasks shown as production tasks that aren't linked to a batch or equipment.

Each task shows its status, its stage category and turn where it has them, how far through it is (such as 3 of 5 steps), who it is assigned to, and anything it is waiting for, such as "Waiting for a gravity reading below 1.012". A finished task is shaded green.

Doing the work

Click the arrow button on a task to go straight to the work:

Task Where the arrow takes you
Brew sheet The step on the batch's brew sheet
Transfer The transfer form, ready for that batch
Packaging Packaging for that planned packaging
Cleaning and maintenance, and sign-offs The cleaning and maintenance record
Batch reading The vessel's reading form, in a pop-up
Task The general task

Once you record the work in the usual way, the task completes itself. There is nothing extra to mark off.

The other buttons on a task:

  • Assign task (the person button) - choose who does the task. Without the Assign production tasks permission, you can only give an unassigned task to yourself. Once a task has an owner, the button changes to a pencil.
  • Close task - close a task you won't be doing, so it stops appearing. Managers can see who closed each task. Batch reading tasks can't be closed, because closing one would end that vessel's reminders for the rest of the batch. A general task is cancelled from the task itself instead.
  • Reopen task - shown on a closed task when you have enabled Also show closed work. It puts the task back as outstanding work.

You can close or reopen your own tasks and unassigned ones. Anyone with the Assign production tasks permission can close or reopen any task.

Work still open from before today

If any of your tasks from earlier days are still open, a banner says how many. Click See them to list them all together, and Back to today to return.

Work that isn't a task yet

Under the header, Breww tells you about work planned for the day that isn't showing:

  • Work on batches that haven't been prepared yet.
  • Work on batches that are further off than your look-ahead window, which appears as the batch gets closer.
  • Cleaning and maintenance expected from its schedule, which appears once its record is created.

Opening one batch's day

On a batch's brew sheet, click Production day for this batch to see only that batch's work. Click Show the whole day to go back to everything.
