Containers are what you package your beer into when using the Production section. Container types include Firkins, 50L kegs and 300ml Bottles, but you can make additional types so that Breww works best for you. Breww can also handle a different taxable capacity from the gross capacity for your beer duty return.
Within a container type, you can specify which stock items (if any) are always used when packaging into that specific container type. For example, a 330ml bottle container type may always use a 330ml bottle from your stock in addition to a bottle cap. This is especially useful for tracking cost and inventory during the packaging process. You will always be asked to confirm the use of these items during packaging so that you can ensure the correct usage of any stock items and add or remove any items if needed.
Smallpack
Smallpack represents anything you package your beer in beyond a cask or a keg. Most commonly, this will include cans and bottles but other packaging formats such a Bag In A Box or 5L mini kegs would also fall under this category.
We highly recommend setting your smallpack containers up as the base unit (e.g. Can - 330ml, rather than Case of 24 x 330ml Cans), as it provides more flexibility throughout the product management process. If you would like to set up a case of cans or bottles, you can do so by creating a product that uses multiple cans or bottles; see the Products section.
Smallpack packaging formats
For multipack products (such as 6-packs, 12-packs or 24-packs), you can define smallpack packaging formats that specify the additional stock items used when packaging a particular pack size. For example, a 24-pack might use a cardboard tray, while a 6-pack uses a clip strip. These formats are reusable across all products that share the same container type and pack size, and changes to a format are automatically synced to all linked products. Containers (returnable/tracked)
You can create your casks/kegs in Breww individually or in bulk. Breww has full container tracking functionality built-in for your casks and kegs. You can see where they are currently (which customer, or with you at the brewery) and if they've been assigned to an order/delivery. We'll produce barcode labels which can be printed and stuck onto the containers to help this. Learn more about barcode scanning and labels.
Non-returnable Containers
When you receive some non-returnable containers (such as KegStar kegs or Ekegs) you can create these in Breww. We'll generate barcode labels (similar to how they work with your own containers) to allow you to track them through Breww and make sure the right containers are delivered to the right customers.
