Why some features need a verified account

Some Breww features can reach people outside your brewery, or show your content publicly on a Breww web address. To keep those features safe for everyone, they unlock once your account is verified. If a feature is locked, you'll see a padlock and a message explaining how to unlock it.

Why some features need verification

Breww sends email and text messages on behalf of many breweries, using shared sending infrastructure. That means misuse by any single account, such as a fake account set up to send spam, could affect deliverability for everyone and make emails more likely to land in junk folders.

Verification is a simple check that confirms an account belongs to a real business before it can send custom content to people outside it or take payments. These checks keep the shared sending reputation healthy, so your emails and texts keep reaching your customers.

What counts as verified

Your account is verified when any of these is true:

  • Your subscription payment has been received. Features unlock automatically after your first subscription payment arrives. You don't need to do anything.
  • An administrator has verified their identity. See Verifying your identity below.
  • The Breww team has approved your account. If you think your account should be approved, ask us using Need help? then Ask a question, as described in Getting help below.

Verification can lapse

A verified account can become unverified again, so the checks keep protecting you over time. This can happen after a long break, if an invoice is overdue, after changes to your account's security details, or if we see unusual activity.

When it happens, the padlock message tells you the quickest way to unlock again. For example, paying an overdue invoice or verifying your identity.

An identity verification covers the administrator who completed it. It stays valid for a limited period, and only while that person is still an administrator of your account and still logs in with the same email address. After that, you can verify again.

Which features are locked

Customising the content of emails

You can still send emails from Breww while your account is unverified, but you can't change their wording. This applies to:

  • Editing the subject or message when you send an invoice, credit note, account statement, price list, delivery note or purchase order
  • The saved email wording on the General email settings page, your invoice information and your order and invoice settings
  • Invoice due reminders
  • Trade store email wording, trade store invite reminders and bulk trade store invitations
  • The email message for delivery ETA notifications
  • Invoice and delivery note document wording
  • Sending your new customer form by email
  • Attaching files other than PDFs and images to invoice emails, and uploading archive files (such as zip files) as invoice or credit note files

Emails use your saved wording unchanged until you're verified.

Sender name, reply-to address and sending domains

  • The send-from name on emails
  • The reply-to addresses on emails
  • Standing CC and BCC addresses on invoice emails
  • Adding your own sending domain

Text messages

Sending SMS messages, including delivery ETA texts and the text wording, is locked until you're verified.

Public pages and online payments

  • Publishing QR code landing pages. You can still build and preview them while your account is unverified.
  • Connecting a card payment provider such as Stripe
  • Adding a card payment provider such as Stripe to your invoicing details, so customers can pay online from the invoices you share with them. A provider already on your invoicing details stays there.
  • Changing bank details. If your account has no saved bank details you can add them, but you can't change them or add a second set until you're verified. This stops payments being redirected.

Sending outside your brewery

While your account is unverified, scheduled reports and low-stock notifications can only be sent to users in your own brewery. Adding other recipients unlocks once you're verified.

Trade store custom content

You can build your trade store and use it with customers you invite while your account is unverified. Custom HTML content (such as your hero section, terms and request-access introduction) and custom questions on the request-access form unlock once you're verified.

Daily limits

Until your account is verified, you can invite up to 5 people to your brewery per day. Some other features, such as Cooper and route optimisation, also have a daily allowance for unverified accounts. Verified accounts don't have these limits.

Verifying your identity

Identity verification takes about two minutes. You'll need a photo ID, such as a passport or driving licence, and your phone or webcam for a quick selfie.

  1. Open the locked feature's padlock message and press Verify my identity. You can also go to Settings -> Billing and start verification from there.
  2. Follow the steps to photograph your ID and take a selfie.
  3. Wait for the result, which normally comes back within moments.

Our verification partner, Didit, checks your ID and selfie for us. Breww only keeps the result and your verified name. We never receive or keep the photos.

If the result is approved, the features unlock for every account you administer. If your verification fails and you think that's wrong, contact us and a member of our team will review it.

Getting help

If you have any questions about why a feature is locked, or you'd like the Breww team to review your account, open Need help? in the main menu and choose Ask a question. Cooper, the Breww AI assistant, raises a support ticket with our team if your question needs a person.

¿Sigues atascado?

Cuéntanos en qué te has atascado.
