Beer loss report

The Beer loss report lists every liquid and packaged loss event across production, so you can see where volume is disappearing, what it cost you, and which vessels or beers are responsible.

Find it under ReportingPre-built Production & inventory reportsBatches & production. If your brewery uses a different drink title, the report is named after it (for example, "Cider loss").

Running the report

Choose a reporting period, how to group the results, and optionally which sites and brew types to include.

Group by options:

  • Event - one row per individual loss, the most detailed view.
  • Loss type - totals per kind of loss.
  • Beer - totals per beer.
  • Source vessel - totals per vessel the loss came from.
  • Month - totals per month.

Reading the results

The report opens on a chart. Grouping by event gives a stacked bar chart of loss volume by week, split by loss type. The other groupings chart the total loss volume for each type, beer, vessel or month.

The table shows the date, batch, beer, source vessel, loss type, volume lost, estimated cost, who recorded it and any notes or reason, when grouped by event. The grouped views show the number of events, volume lost and estimated cost for each dimension.

Beer loss vs stock adjustments

This report looks at loss from a production perspective, including losses that only ever existed in a vessel and never became stock.

The All product stock adjustments report looks at the same territory from a stock ledger perspective - packaged stock increases, and decreases marked as lost or spoiled. If you are reconciling stock rather than investigating production yield, that is the report you want.

Row actions

Rows offer View batch to open the batch, and View action record to see the underlying batch action in a quickview (from where you can take it into the Data Explorer). Grouped rows offer View loss events to drill into the individual events behind the total.
