Customer settings and tags

The Tags & general customer settings page holds a small set of account-wide customer options, together with the tags you can apply to your customers and contacts.

To open it, go to Settings -> Customer, lead & CRM settings -> Tags & general customer settings, or Customers -> Settings & tools -> Settings & tags.

General customer settings

The first card on the page holds three settings. Make your changes and select Save settings. The View recent changes to these settings button shows a history of who changed what, and when.

Default CRM activity type

If you choose an activity type here, it will be pre-selected whenever you log an activity against a customer or lead, which saves a click on whichever type you record most often. Leave it blank for no pre-selection.

The choices come from your CRM activity types, and include both Breww's system types and any you've created yourself.

Create tasks for sales visits

When enabled, Breww creates a task for each of your sales visits, so your visits appear on your tasks dashboard alongside everything else, and completes the task automatically when the visit is completed.

Turning the setting on creates tasks for your existing upcoming visits, and turning it off removes any that are still pending. Breww confirms how many were created or removed. See Planning, optimising and managing in-person sales visits routes (field sales).

Auto-populate reference

When enabled, new customers, leads and suppliers are given an automatically generated unique reference (such as MSA0001A) if you don't type one yourself.

The first time you turn it on, Breww tells you how many existing entities have no reference and asks whether to populate them now. See Auto-populate customer references for the full detail.

Your customer/contact tags

Tags are labels you define yourself and apply to customers and contacts. You can apply as many as you like to each one, and then use them to filter lists and reports with BrewwQL.

Adding and editing a tag

Select New tag, or the pencil icon on an existing tag. A tag has:

  • Name - must be unique within your brewery, and can't clash with the name of one of Breww's system tags.
  • Colour - the colour of the badge shown wherever the tag appears. Breww picks a readable text colour to sit on top of it for you.
  • Notes - an optional note explaining what the tag is for. This is only shown on this settings page, so it's a good place to tell your team when to use the tag.
  • Allow on customers and Allow on contacts - which of the two the tag can be applied to. At least one must be ticked, since a tag allowed on neither couldn't be used anywhere.

If a tag is already in use, you can't untick the side it's being used on. Breww will tell you how many customers or contacts still hold it, so you can remove it from them first.

Applying a tag to everyone at once

The person-and-tag icon on a row opens the bulk apply form, where you can add the tag to every customer and/or every contact that doesn't already have it. You can only bulk apply to a side the tag is allowed on.

Deleting a tag

The bin icon deletes a tag. This also removes it from every customer and contact that has it, and detaches it from any marketing lists it was linked to (such as Mailchimp or Klaviyo syncing). It can't be undone.

System customer/contact tags

Breww provides some tags of its own, listed in the last card on the page. You can't rename, recolour or delete these, but you can bulk apply them with the same icon, and filter on them like any other tag.

Some system tags change how Breww behaves towards the customers and contacts that have them:
