# How to schedule delivery driver breaks into your delivery runs

> **Note:**
> This feature requires Breww's Advanced Deliveries Addon to function. [Find out more](https://breww.com/features/advanced_deliveries/) or [subscribe here](https://breww.com/settings/addons/advanced_deliveries/).

You can define driver breaks in your Breww settings, and then when optimising delivery runs, Breww will schedule the required breaks into your runs. Breaks can be configured in **Settings** -> **Deliveries** -> **Delivery options & defaults**.

Breww will also intelligently not schedule a break if a break isn't required (e.g. on a short route).

The break set here is your account default. A vehicle profile can use its own break instead, or no break at all, so different vehicles can follow different rules. See [Use Vehicle Profiles to further customise delivery routing](https://breww.com/docs/vehicle-profiles/).

There are two types of break that you can choose between:

- Time window (e.g. lunch break)
- Drive time (e.g. driving regulations)

## Time window (e.g. lunch break)

Simply set your break duration and the times that it should occur between. In the example screenshot below, this would schedule a 30 minute break between 12 noon and 2pm.

## Drive time (e.g. driving regulations)

This type of break is ideal for meeting driving regulations, such as the [EU Drivers' Hours](https://www.gov.uk/drivers-hours/eu-rules) (which still apply in the UK).

The below screenshot shows the options for configuring a break of this type in Breww. The options should be fairly self-explanatory, although they are a little more complicated than the options on a "Time window" style of break.

It's your responsibility to ensure that you are compliant with any applicable driving regulations and to ensure that any breaks that are generated by Breww do in-fact cover your requirements. For example, the EU Drivers' Hours have more rules than a break alone can cover, such as the requirement for at least 11 hours of rest every day. A vehicle profile's **Driver hours** can set daily limits and a minimum daily rest, and overnight rests on [multi-day runs](https://breww.com/docs/multi-day-delivery-runs/) use that minimum rest. Breww can also be configured to help you meet the "a break or breaks totalling at least 45 minutes after no more than 4 hours 30 minutes driving" requirements. The screenshot above shows how to configure this particular requirement in Breww (and allow the 45 minute break to be taken in two parts, a 15 minute break and 30 minute break).
